The Burlington Municipal Band "season" actually begins with the Memorial Day Service, in 2003 once again held outside Memorial Auditorium. (see photo at right, with Mark Eveleth conducting the band)
This entire Burlington Municipal Band web site, now known as "muniband.org", was Jim Priebe's idea. Jim has been a member of the band for decades, and served as its director for a time. Jim selects most of the content of this site, finds or takes most of the photos, and writes most of the text -- but thus far, he does not actually post the material online. Originally, this site was designed and maintained with the assistance of staff members of the Burlington Public Library, as part of the larger web site for the city of Burlington, Iowa.
After a year or two, as a fellow band member, I approached Jim Priebe about maintaining the site ourselves. (Specifically, I secretly prepared an exact duplicate of the library-based web site, and showed it to Jim.) After some discussion, everyone agreed that the city librarians already had enough to do without maintaining our band web site, and everything MIGHT work a bit more efficiently if we operated the site on our own. Still later, Jim purchased the "muniband.org" domain name for the Burlington Municipal Band web site.
A few months after I took on the responsibilty of the day-to-day maintenance of the site, I found it handy to begin keeping online archives of most of the weekly concert "updates", so I could refer back to information I had posted weeks, months, or years earlier. Since the archives are already here, online, I thought some of our web site visitors might also enjoy having access to this information.
A few words on the history of this site,
from Tom Bell, Webmaster:
Past pages are listed by concert date, with the conductor listed in parentheses. "Click" on the date for the web page associated with that concert.
2007 Concerts:
June 3, 2007 (Arnie Anderson) "The Teddy Bears Picnic"
Note from the webmaster: Each week during our summer concert season, we post the program for the upcoming concert on this web site. Since 2001, I have kept copies of most of these weekly updates, and I thought perhaps some of our audience would find them of interest. Keep in mind that, with few exceptions, the information contained on these pages was posted about five days prior to the concert in question, and does not necessarily reflect what actually took place at the concert. Some concerts were completely rained out, some were stopped "in progress" by rain, and at times certain selections were skipped or inserted. You may also notice that the site underwent a major re-design for 2004. Prior to that, the "weekly updates" were contained within the site's main "index" page -- so the archive page includes the entire "index" page from that time. These really are just my personal archives, which I hope you may find informative and/or useful.
2005 Concerts:
