Note from the webmaster: We update this web site at least once a week during our summer concert season. Since the program for each Sunday concert is finalized at our rehearsal on Monday evening, we generally post the week's update sometime on Tuesday. Unfortunately, if you are viewing this page on a summer Monday, what follows will undoubtedly be the information for YESTERDAY'S concert.
This week's concert will be conducted by retired New London band director Ron Coberley. Ron, a long-time member of the band, plays the trumpet when he's not conducting. Ron has chosen a high-energy program that we're confident will have our audience tapping its feet!
Ron's selections will include: Cyberink 3 by Ed Huckeby donated to the band by Dave Scott; Leroy Anderson, a Legacy in Sound arranged by Robert W. Smith including Syncopated Clock, Blue Tango, and Bugler's Holiday - the latter will feature trumpeters Derrick Murphy, Jeremy Henman, and Mark Eveleth; Vaquero Concert March by Sammy Nestico; Night Journey by Scott Wilson, a selection donated to the band by Dave Scott; Kinetic Dances by Randall D. Standbridge; Bond...James Bond arranged by Stephen Bulla including the James Bond Theme, Goldfinger, Nobody Does it Better, Skyfall, and Live and Let Die; The Banks of Green Willow by George Butterworth arranged by Robert Longfield; American Flourish by Robert W. Smith, donated to the band by Barbara Carmon of New London in memory of her husband Jim Carmon; and our traditional closing march, The Stars and Stripes Forever by John Philip Sousa.
You win a few, you lose a few! Unfortunately, we lost to the weather this past Sunday as severe thunderstorms rolled through the area. We are planning to reschedule the concert that would have been conducted by Adam Creager for August 8, our final concert of the season which we always reserve for making up rain outs.
