The Burlington Municipal Band "season" actually begins with the Memorial Day Service, in 2003 once again held outside Memorial Auditorium. (see photo at right, with Mark Eveleth conducting the band)

Our conductor this week will be Mark Eveleth, Junior/Senior High School director at West Burlington. Mark plays trumpet in our band and various other groups, including the South Hill Brass.

Grundman, featuring the folk songs My Little Mohee, Shantyman's Life, Sourwood Mountain, and Sweet Betsy From Pike; Let's Beguine by Jeffrey Taylor; The Last Rose of Summer by Thomas Moore, setting by James Swearingen; Slippery Slide Rag by Ed Huckeby; Selections from A Hard Day's Night, by John Lennon and Paul McCartney, arranged by Michael Sweeney, including A Hard Day's Night, If I Fell, And I Love Her, and Can't Buy Me Love; Pulsar, a concert march by Eric Osterling; The Great Locomotive Chase by Robert W. Smith; Sea Song Fantasy arranged by Anne McGinty, featuring A Capital Ship, Botany Bay, and What Shall We Do With The Drunken Sailor; The Nutmeggers, another march by Eric Osterling; a medley from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber, arranged by Michael Sweeney, with Jacob and Sons, Any Dream Will Do, Song Of The King (Seven Fat Cows), Close Every Door, and Go Go Go Joseph; The Yellow Rose of Texas arranged by James D. Ployhar; and our traditional closing march, The Stars and Stripes Forever by John Philip Sousa.
Our featured vocal soloist will be Sharon Gygi, West Burlington Elementary School Band Director. Sharon regularly performs as part of our flute section, and has sung with our band in the past. Sharon will sing God Bless the U.S.A. by Lee Greenwood, arranged by Roger Holmes.
