This Week's Concert
Sunday, June 11, 2023
Note from the webmaster:  We update this web site at least once a week during our summer concert season.  Since the program for each Sunday concert is finalized at our rehearsal on Monday evening, we generally post the week's update sometime on Tuesday.  Unfortunately, if you are viewing this page on a summer Monday, what follows will undoubtedly be the information for YESTERDAY'S concert.
For those specifically SEEKING web pages from past concerts, our recent concert archives are now available online.

After a rainy afternoon which had threatened to become a rainy evening, the Teddy Bear's picnic/educational outreach concert went off without a hitch and we were so happy to see all of those  friendly faces out in the park!  It's great to have our 96th season underway!
The concert will feature an interesting variety of selections - Carmen says there's no "theme" except that she's programming music that she likes. Her selections include Moon River by Henry Mancini arranged by Michael Brown and Blue Moon by Richard Rodgers arranged by Warren Barker, both performed by soloist Adrian Benson.  Additional selections will include Second Suite for Military Band in F major by Gustav Holst; Selections from Les Miserables by Claude-Michel Schonberg arranged by Warren Barker including At the End of the Day, I Dreamed a Dream, Master of the House, On My Own, and Do You Hear the People Sing?; Powhatan's Daughter March by John Philip Sousa arranged by Kevin Kaisershot; Moorside March by Gustav Holst arranged by Gordon Jacob; Klezmer Dances by Stephen Bulla; and our traditional closing march, The Stars and Stripes Forever by John Philip Sousa.
Next week's concert
will be conducted by David Adams

She's asked recent Notre Dame graduate Adrian Benson to be the vocal soloist.  Adrian was twice selected for the All-State choir and was named outstanding soloist three times in the Iowa High School Music Association Solo and Ensemble Festival.  The son of Tim and Gretel Benson, he will be attending the University of Northern Iowa next year as a music major.
