This Week's Concert
July 20, 2014
Note from the webmaster:  We update this web site at least once a week during our summer concert season.  Since the program for each Sunday concert is finalized at our rehearsal on Monday evening, we generally post the week's update sometime on Tuesday.  Unfortunately, if you are viewing this page on a summer Monday, what follows will undoubtedly be the information for YESTERDAY'S concert.
For those specifically SEEKING web pages from past concerts, our recent concert archives are now available online.

Derrick Murphy
Our conductor this week will be Burlington High School’s own Derrick Murphy.  When he’s not conducting, Derrick is our first trumpeter.  In addition to our band, he is principal trumpet in the Southeast Iowa Symphony and plays in the Southeast Iowa Brass Quintet and the Bullis-Rutter Big Band.

Not all of our conductors choose “themes” for their concerts.  But Derrick has chosen a theme that seems most appropriate for Burlington in this summer of rain and flood.  His theme is water.  All of his selections (with the possible exception of one) have a connection with water in some manner.  We think his choices will entertain you and we just hope that he’s not tempting fate – we depend on the rain staying away during our concerts, after all!
