Note from the webmaster:  We update this web site at least once a week during our summer concert season.  Since the program for each Sunday concert is finalized at our rehearsal on Monday evening, we generally post the week's update sometime on Tuesday.  Unfortunately, if you are viewing this page on a summer Monday, what follows will undoubtedly be the information for YESTERDAY'S concert.
For those specifically SEEKING web pages from past concerts, our recent concert archives are now available online.

As summer weather returns to Burlington, our Municipal Band season begins with our traditional Teddy Bear's Picnic concert.  Our concert starts, as always, at 7:30 PM, but from 6:00 to 7:00 PM there will be kid-friendly activities near the band shell, with various non-profit groups participating, including ADDS, the Burlington Public Library, Community Action of Southeast Iowa, BHS Music Boosters, STEM Foundation, and the Art Center of Burlington.
This Week's Concert
Sunday, June 1, 2025
Once again, this will also be our Educational Outreach concert, funded by the Community Foundation of Des Moines County.  Outstanding younger musicians, nominated by their school band directors, will join the band for two pieces.
Jeremy Henman
The highlight of the concert will be the Teddy Bear Parade, when young and young-at-heart members of our audience will be invited to join in a march with their stuffed animals as the band plays The Teddy Bear's Picnic by John W. Bratten, arranged by Paul Yoder.
Janel Horn
Our conductor will be Janel Horn, band director from Edward Stone Middle School.  Janel plays saxophone in our band and several other groups, including the Southeast Iowa Band and the Burlington Area Saxophone Quartet.
The remainder of the concert will include:  Choose Joy by Randall D. Standridge;  As Tears Fall On Dawn's New Light by Richard L. Saucedo;  American Riversongs by Pierre La Plant;  The Trombone King March by Karl King;  Selections from "Moana", arranged by Jay Bocook, including Where You AreHow Far I'll GoYou're Welcome, and We Know the Way; and our traditional closing march, The Stars and Stripes Forever by John Philip Sousa.
The younger musicians will join the band for Music from "West Side Story" by Leonard Bernstein, arranged by Michael Sweeney, featuring PrologueMariaTonightOne Hand, One HeartAmerica, and Somewhere; and The Great Locomotive Chase, by Robert W. Smith.
